This paper describes the application of an educative methodology based on a learning-style model, the Preferential Complementary Learning (PCL), in ad hoc teams consisting of students from two subjects of Programming of the School of Computer Engineering. The outcomes were excellent in the achievement of competencies and, by comparison, similar to those obtained during two previous academic years, each of them with a team of seven members selected from different styles of PCL, which is considered ideal due to the complementary styles. Team building from a large group involved changes in the distribution of styles in relation to previous experiences. Consequently, the need to measure the effect of the diversity factor in the overall results was arisen. Besides, it was concluded that the diversity of styles in teams positively correlates with these results.
